Today the topic is How Our Routines Affect Our Success. In this post, I will be going over what routines are, how routines affect our success, the unhealthy routines we can build, and the healthy routines that we can build.

For those of you who do not have regular routines, this post will be helpful in why those who do have regular routines find them essential to their overall success.

You may be asking what routines are? They are daily habits or things you regularly do to help your situation or day run easier and more effectively.

That description alone explains why routines are so important. However, Let’s break things down a little more for you.

Importance of Routines.

Routines have a lot of important qualities that help to improve your day-to-day and, in some cases, your relationships and overall efficiency.

Some of those qualities are

Discipline
Organization
Focus
To be more effective.
To have more balance.
With only one of these qualities, you will function better, but with all these qualities, you will become unbeatable, and you will always be at your best and fully capable of handling anything that you may have to face.

Now let’s go into how routines can help build success.

How Do Routines Affect Our Success?

When you have the habit of regular routines, you are more disciplined and focused, which will lead to your ability to get more done.

Another thing you will gain is clarity, which will aid you in handling any unexpected situations or events in your day. It will help you always know what direction and how to achieve whatever you are aiming for.

Routines also help people be more balanced with work and play or personal time. You will also find more balance in your relationships since you will be more able to carve out needed time to build and maintain them.

All and all, building routines are just all-around an excellent thing to do. However, I know that some of you find routine restrictive, confining, or controlling. I can honestly tell you that I know people who actively reject routine for these very reasons.

I would simply say to each their own. Still, studies have proven that people have more focus, discipline, and clarity with regular routines and habits, which leads to less stress, anxiety, and fatigue, which leads to happier, more productive, and fulfilled lives.

For all of you who reject the idea of routine, I would take a moment and think that through.

Anyone of these posts or articles will give you a better understanding of forming healthy habits and routines. So please take the time to read them.

Now how about we talk about how to form habits.

Although forming healthy habits is much easier today thanks to social media and the willingness of people to share knowledge these days. However, it can still be hard to develop good habits and routines, let alone try to change bad habits for good ones.

So how about we take some time to go over everyday bad habits that could be holding us back and good habits that we can form or that will help us be our best selves.

Unhealthy Routines:
You could say we all have some kind of bad habit, habits like

Overeating
Smoking
Drinking
Using drugs
Never lay down your phone.
The list can go on and on. What would you say if I told you that only getting 4 hours of sleep on average is one of the worst things you can do for your mind and body?

What if I told you that only drinking pop, alcohol, or coffee is very bad for your mind and body and plays havoc on your digestive system, hair, skin, and nails?

What if I told you by living on the seat of your chair under high stress and constant anxiety, you are actually robbing yourself of life by aging yourself faster than you are meant to age? Is it a really bad habit?

These are things people do every day, which is what bad habits are.

I have a rule that I live by and strongly believe in. If it causes harm, it has to go. I believe there is a balance to all things, and there is no harm to having that quick meal from Micky D’s.

I can hear you saying, but I don’t have a choice. I have to pay the bills. I like having that mountain dew four times a day. I can’t help myself but overeat; it tastes good.

The truth is that at some point you have to choose how you want to live and just how long you would like to live. So if dying young is what you want, then keep on, but if you plan on seeing your senior years and maybe even enjoying them, then building good and healthy habits is probably going to be a better way of life for you.

Healthy Routines:
Some of the healthy habits we form are known by most, habits such as:

Eating a balanced and healthy diet.
Drinking plenty of water
Getting 6 to 8 hours of sleep a night
Regular hygiene
Regular exercise
Now that goes over things like planning your day, week, and month in advance.
Make sure you plan the appropriate amount of time for every event on your agenda for the day.
Make sure you plan in plenty of time to relax so your body will get that downtime before you go to sleep.
Make sure to plan fun activities throughout your week.
Make sure to make time for yourself every day.
Try to allow yourself some time daily to reflect on your blessings and what you are grateful for.
Come up with ways to better handle stress, confusion, or frustration. For example, you could devise a particular technique that you know will work for you, or you could use things that have proven to work, such as breathing exercises or meditation.
When you build the planning habits combined with the eating, sleeping, exercising, and drinking plenty of water habits, you will start seeing improvement in how you feel, think, and even look.

You will find that things tend to move much smoother throughout your day and that even on those days that thing seems to go all wrong, you just don’t stress over it the same way. As a result, you will have more clarity. As a result, you will be able to make better decisions and work for more extended periods without allowing things to distract you.

You will find that you fit your clothes better and are open and receptive to those around you, which will lead to better relationships and the possibility of more of them.

Basically, you will become a better version of yourself.

Final thoughts:
Now that I have broken down the good and bad of routines. I will sum this post up with this. Eating fast food does taste good, having that soda does feel good, using that drug, or having that drink does help ease the stress and anxiety of the situation or the day.

The truth is that all those bad habits have appeal, but they really are bad for you, and if kept in balance or checked, they can be less harmful to you, but they are still bad, and in the end, they will do some level of damage to you.

I can tell you that changing habits from bad to good can be challenging, and you will need to really want that change to achieve it in the long term. But those good habits can make you feel, look and be so much better than any of those bad habits.

Building solid routines can help you improve every part of your life, and why wouldn’t you want to do that? I hope you enjoyed this article and that you found this information helpful. Until next week, Namaste.
