Welcome back, everyone; this week, I thought I would discuss nine anxiety management techniques anyone can use at any time.

Anxiety is something we all deal with from time to time, yet, many deals with it daily or more frequently than most people.

For these people, management techniques are essential to keep their anxiety symptoms in check.

If you struggle with anxiety and want to learn some techniques that you can use to be one step ahead of any onset of anxiety, then stay with me as I guide the way.

Anticipate the onset

Over time you will recognize the onset of symptoms of just about anything you have previously seen or felt. Being capable of this kind of recall will help you respond and jump into action much faster. The idea is to stop reacting to an event you know will likely follow.

This is an important and necessary step in managing your anxiety, stress, and fear.

Categorize your Anxiety Level

To categorize your anxiety, you would rate it from one, which is low and under control, to a ten, which is spinning out of control or I have lost control.

When you can recognize the level of your anxiety, you can then take the appropriate steps to put it back into check if that is what is needed. Knowing your anxiety level, you would learn one of your go-to steps for anxiety or stress management.

Monitor Your Anxiety Level

You must be mindful of your level of stress or anxiety. Being mindful of this while functioning in your daily life will help you perform at your peak performance and respond quickly to oncoming issues you may face regarding your needs or care.

This is one of the most important parts of self-regulation and management.

Remain In The Present

This may be one of the most complex parts of self-regulation and management. However, staying present in each moment is necessary to keep yourself in check and functioning at your peak performance.

It can be far too easy to get lost in what has already happened in specific moments or situations as it plays like a broken record in your mind. However, you must recognize that it will only trigger the anxiety you are working to manage and control.

It is always better to stay present, allowing things to ebb and flow to their natural conclusion.

Test Yourself

Another part of anxiety management is to test yourself by taking your management a step further toward improving each time you deal with your triggers.

When you first start, you will stumble and make a mess of things, which is normal, but each time you face a trigger, you can challenge it by doing things differently.

An example of this might be the first time you are triggered; you just recognize that you are feeling overwhelming anxiety. The second time you add in breathing techniques when you feel that overwhelming anxiety, and the third time you close your eyes and do imagery and breathing techniques.

By learning how to test yourself and challenge yourself, you will know what will and will not work to help keep your anxiety completely and efficiently managed.

Negative Thinking

Negative thinking is one of the best ways to trigger your anxiety and stress response. Negative thinking tends to have you jumping to the worst conclusions before anything has even happened or believing there is no way to resolve a situation when you have even looked to see if there is a way.

The best thing to do is stay away from negative thinking and stick to the facts, the things that can actually be proved, measured, and tried.

Recognize Your Feeling

Again it’s important to be mindful of yourself and your surroundings. By recognizing your feelings, you can respond to them responsibly and appropriately for yourself.

An example might be that you are in a crowd of people, which is making you uncomfortable, at which point you would want to move out of the group or leave the location of the crowd so that you could put yourself back into a manageable state.

Or you might feel jealous about something or someone, and by recognizing that feeling, you can examine it and might, for example, figure out that you are feeling insecure about something you are lacking in your life. So again, the key to this is to understand that it is essential to be mindful of how you feel.

Try and Locate

When your anxiety starts to show itself, the best way to understand why is to locate the root of the emotions.

When you understand your triggers, you can also learn how to control them better; even more, you could prevent them altogether, which will significantly help your self-management.

Take Care of Yourself

An essential part of any self-management technique is to create techniques that work for you. It is Important to always care for yourself in a way that works for you and meets your needs.

If you remain self-aware and respond when you most need the attention, you should always stay on top of your self-care, and thus, you will always function at your highest level.
