This week I would like to talk about the eight aspects of wellness that we each require to find balance and, ultimately, success in our lives.
When I started my journey to health and wellness many years ago, I had no idea that there were any aspects other than being healthy or well, and honestly, I had little understanding of what being healthy would intel or require of me.
Over the years, however, and with a lot of effort and patience, I have understood that we have eight aspects of wellness. We will need to have a certain level of success and accomplishment in each one; to have a balanced and successful life.
If you would like to learn more about each aspect, stay with me as I break each aspect down for you.
The first aspect I will start with today is emotional wellness.
Emotional wellness
What is emotional wellness? It is when you can cope effectively with life and can create satisfying relationships.
How can you be emotional well? By keeping positive in life’s situations, showing thankfulness and gratitude for what life throws at us, learning from our mistakes, and helping others despite what we may or may not be facing, we will have achieved emotional wellness.
The next aspect I will discuss is environmental wellness.
Environmental wellness
What is environmental wellness? It is when you have good health by occupying pleasant and stimulating environments that support well-being.
How can you create environmental wellness? By respecting where you live, interacting with nature, recycling, and becoming aware of the natural resources the planet provides for us and the best ways to conserve those resources.
Although this aspect may not be as important to some as to others, we all must take this aspect seriously as it is to each and every one; of our benefit, to take care of our environment and do our part to keep this plant healthy.
The next aspect I will discuss is financial wellness.
Financial wellness
What is financial wellness? It refers to a person’s overall financial health and the absence of money-related stress.
How can you achieve financial wellness? By successfully managing your money, keeping track of expenses, making a budget, and sticking to financial responsibilities.
As soon as a financial burden arises, address the issue, and find a solution. Keep records of money spent, and plan around your budget. Make sure you are saving money for a rainy day and not just living paycheck to paycheck.
I know this is hard to achieve, but it is quite possible with the right tools and some discipline.
The next aspect I will discuss will be Intellectional wellness.
Intellectual wellness
What is intellectual wellness? This refers to the ability to recognize one’s creativity and to find ways to expand knowledge and skills.
It is important to note that creativity is the key to success. Finding a creative hobby allows you to expand your creative side and exposes you to sharing knowledge and learning from others.
Traveling is also great for learning about other cultures and experiencing different lifestyles. Be open-minded to learning and listening to others.
What is important to remember when it comes to being intellectually healthy or well is that; you must actively make time to expand your knowledge and grow in your skills.
The next aspect is occupational wellness.
Occupational wellness
What is occupational wellness? It Is when you choose a profession that provides a feeling of purpose and productivity.
This means acknowledging your talents and skills and the opportunities to achieve personal satisfaction through our work. Your profession should give you personal fulfillment and enrich your life.
How can you achieve occupational wellness? By pursuing opportunities and a career that you enjoy most. Consider a position that allows you to use your talents, skills, or passions, which would bring employment that could get you joy and fulfillment.
We each must do those things that we love and will help us find fulfillment, and who doesn’t want to earn a little money doing what you love.
The next aspect is physical wellness.
Physical wellness
What does physical wellness mean? It means getting adequate sleep, eating a healthy and balanced diet, alongside being physically active every day.
It is important to note that exercise plays a very important role in our bodies’ health and is also a great stress reliever, allowing for the release of endorphins, which are our feel-good hormones.
How can you achieve physical wellness? By being active for at least 30 minutes a day, eating a balanced healthy diet, taking in at least half your body weight in fluids per day, and getting in 6 to 8 of rest for your body to function at its peak performance.
The next aspect to discuss is social wellness.
Social wellness
What is social wellness? It’s developing a sense of connection, belonging, and a well-developed support system.
How do you create a sense of social wellness? Finding like-minded people to connect to which will assist you in building a solid and well-developed support system.
It is also important to note that the people you spend your time around should encourage you and help you in your quest to live a healthy, well-balanced life. Therefore, it is very important to make the effort to keep in touch so that you can keep your social support intact and active.
The final aspect being discussed is spiritual wellness.

What is spiritual wellness? It’s an evolutionary process of discovering the meaning and purpose of life that includes; seeking truth and living a spiritually driven life.
How can you create spiritual wellness? By introducing techniques or routines such as yoga or meditation. You can start to seek more profound meaning and purpose for yourself or your life, Practice religion, dive deeper into your spiritual beliefs, or you can take the time to connect to nature and all the beautiful creations of this earth.
It is important to note that spiritual connection, the seeking of inner peace and harmony, or a sense of oneness to self or nature is key to creating the spiritual wellness we all need.
Final Thoughts
If you can achieve a certain level of success in each of these aspects, you will find that you will live a balanced and harmonious life. However, if, on the other hand, you are out of balance in any of these aspects of your life or you, as an individual, will also feel out of balance.
