The gift of imperfection book review will break down the book. Telling you about the author and how you can use the information this book gives you. I will also give you some personal thoughts along the way.

Let me start this article with how I came to read this book. Believe it or not, this book was suggested to me by a family friend.

She had been reading it and just loved the message that it was giving them. So she suggested I read it and see what I didn’t get from it.

Thus I took her advice, and here I am, ready to tell you what this book is about and what I got from it. So if you are prepared, let me start by telling you a little about the author.

About The Author:

The author’s name is Brene Brown. She is a writer and research professor. She has been featured on Ted Talks, PBS, NPR, CNN, and OWN. Along with Super Soul Sunday with Opera Whinfrey.

She also wrote the bestseller the title Daring Greatly: How the Courage to be vulnerable transforms the way we Live, Love, and Lead.

She is also a member of the Houston Graduate College Of Social Work facility. In 2008 she was nominated Behavioral Health Scholar-in-Residence. She is also a wife and mother of two children.

Now that you have some basics about the author, let’s jump into this book and the message she gives.

About The Book:

She starts this book with an introduction from pages 1-6 by explaining the journey she was on at the time of writing this book, along with how she started this journey. ( she then sets you up to follow her through a step-by-step breakdown of where this journey was taking her and what she was learning along the way.)

From pages 7-22, she dives in and talks about courage, compassion, and connection. In this chapter, she gives a story about how she started to learn lessons in these areas and then provides examples of how you can do so for yourself.

In the next section, on pages 23-30, she explores the power of love, belonging, and being enough. Here she also gives a story or two as she breaks down our psyche and how we as humans think. She also gives examples of how we can change our patterns of thinking about ourselves and, by extension, the world around us.

She then goes into things that get in our way on pages 31-48. She spells out how we can be set up by ourselves and by the world around us to trip or even fall over the obstacles that are placed in our way. She explains how things can look one way, but with faith and hard work, it really can be different.

From here, she goes into what she calls guideposts. In each of these sections, she covers different aspects of the self-development we will need to become our best or healthier selves.

She then brings this book to a close with some final thoughts you can read if you choose to read this book for yourself. (You will find these thoughts on pages 125 and 126.)

This leads me to how you can use this book.

In each guidepost, she gives us a new lesson and a goal to achieve. Here I will provide you with each guidepost she reveals to us.

Final Thoughts:

Throughout this book, she opens herself up, allowing you to peer into her life and experiences as she brings her readers to a complete understanding of her message and how to find and harness our better selves.

If you are looking for a book that shows you how to peer into your soul, this book is just what the doctor ordered.

I have to admit this book inspired me to start taking a much deeper look inside as it showed me how to ask some of the tough questions and find real and honest answers. I am sure it will do the same for you. So I would encourage you to read this; it is well worth it.
