This week, I would like to discuss how we can all use NLP in our daily interactions. I will start by breaking down what NLP is for those who do not know, and then I will help you understand how you can use it and why you might want to in your daily interaction.

If you are interested in learning how to use NLP in your daily interactions, read and see what I have to tell you.

Let’s start, as always, with the question, What is NLP?

What is N.L.P?

NLP stands for Neurolinguistic Programming. Let’s break this down by first breaking down the word itself.

Neuro is the study of the nervous system and the mind through which our experience is processed via the five senses.

Linguistics studies language and other nonverbal communication systems through which our neural representations are coded, ordered, and given meaning.

Programming is the ability to discover and utilize the program in our neurological system to achieve our specific and desired outcome.

So, what is NLP? It is the study of excellence in ourselves and others. It is also a methodology that leaves behind a trail of techniques that will affect our behaviors and, by extension, our interactions with others.

How is it useful?

NLP helps us in how we hold our internal representation. This will make a difference in how we keep our state and physiology to determine our behavior and overall performance.

Basically, this is when we break things down into goals and how we will achieve those goals. It also helps in how we communicate and build rapport with others.

As stated before, NLP is a building of techniques that we can, in turn, use in our daily behaviors and interactions with others.

The Positive And Negative Effects Of N.L.P.

Now that we have a deeper understanding of what NLP is and how it is helpful to each of us. Let’s now look at its positive and negative effects of it.

We must look at our perspectives. Our perspectives are created from our events, experiences, and core beliefs. If these are positive, they will affect how we see ourselves, the people around us, and the world. Conversely, if our perspectives are negative, this will predict our outcomes and view of ourselves and the world around us.

It is vital that you be aware and responsible for your thoughts, actions, and feelings; instead of projecting your perspectives onto others, it would be better for you to instead turn your questions, insights, and perspectives inward and ensure that what you see outside you is in clear and honest view and not just a reflection of you that have not yet dealt with.

What are some techniques you can use?

If you are wondering what techniques you can use, look no further as I will give 6 of the best techniques and among the most commonly used ones you can begin to implement into your daily routines.

  • Modeling – the process of representing the patterns of organization of the specific skills and results of excellence of an exemplar, first in one’s system, then subsequently in a form that can be taught to others.
  • Imprinting –  a process used in conjunction with NLP Timeline. An imprint is a significant experience or period of life from the past. For example, a person forms a belief or cluster of ideas, often at the level of identity; I believe this about myself.
  • Changing your limiting beliefs – our limiting beliefs are formed through our experiences, and to change the belief, we have to see the event that began the idea first.
  • Swish Pattern – is the process of taking behavior or state and changing the submodalities to enhance a new behavior or condition, sometimes accompanied by a noise like humming at the time of changing them.
  • Mirroring – is reflecting the behavior or physiology of the client as if looking into a mirror. It is close to matching in essence, yet the difference is that you make your movements mirror entirely the other person’s as if the mirror image of that person. Each action reflects itself back to them.
  • Incantations – are a more powerful version of affirmations, one of the more mainstream neuro-linguistic programming techniques. NLP techniques like incantations are an effective way to reprogram your mind and create empowering beliefs.

So, you have a deeper understanding and a few techniques to try. But, first, let’s see how you can use all this information in your daily lives and interactions with others.

How To Apply It To Daily Interaction

To apply NLP to daily interactions, you must start with yourself, as discussed above. You have to have awareness and clarity of your state of mind and emotional wellbeing and that you have a clear perspective of yourself as a whole.

Once you have a clear view of yourself, then you will be in the right state to see those around you clearly as well. This will open you up to building a solid foundation and rapport with those you interact with; this will also allow you to have healthier and longer-lasting relationships, whether they be: business or personal.

Final Thoughts.

Now, as I come to a close, I hope I have explained to you clearly how NLP can be used daily in your lives and interactions with others.

I hope you found this information helpful, and please feel free to share your thoughts below. Until next week. Namaste
