Welcome back everyone, this week I thought we could discuss twelve things you can do when you are trying to improve yourself. When on the path toward self-improvement, you will face many challenges, obstacles, and setbacks.

How you manage yourself in these situations will mark your success or failure with your ability to improve or change in the ways you seek to change. Below, I will give you twelve things you can do that will raise your odds of success in finding the self-improvements that you seek.

If you are ready, let’s take the next steps toward becoming positively improved.

Do It Now

One of the biggest obstacles one can face when trying to self-improve is procrastination. Procrastination, much like negative self-talk, is a real killer of progress. The worst thing you can do is give in to it.

The most effective way to start your self-improvement journey and to stay consistent while on your journey is to set a goal and just begin taking the steps that you have mapped out to take.

When you just have the do-it-now mindset, you will find that you have far more success and victories than failures or discouragements along the road to self-improvement.

Embrace The Change

It will be hard at one point or another to embrace the choice you have made to change or improve. Yet, holding onto the ideas that encouraged you to make those changes in the first place will be essential to your success in reaching your goal.

It will be vital to your journey that when you map out your steps, you also include a way to cling to hope and the ideas that encouraged you to start your journey. By doing this, you will embrace your change with both hands and simply hold on to the end of the road or until you have made the improvements.

It will also be important that you be able to see, through visualization, the end results you want. This will make embracing your change much easier to achieve.

Create A Doable Plan

When first beginning our self-improvement journey, we can be overly ambitious and aim to reach unrealistic heights. It is important to understand that everything is progress and that you can reach any height you so desire, but it requires you to take baby steps.

If you reach for the sky before you have learned to fly, you will be met with discouragement and frustration, which will probably lead to the abandonment of your goal.

In order to set yourself up for success, it is important to create a doable step-by-step plan. As they say, one step at a time and you will get to where you are headed.

Take Your Time

The idea that we want what we are aiming to achieve can put a large amount of pressure on us to work faster and harder. In our society, this is a widely held belief, but in fact, we have all the time we need. The universe is abundant and will provide you with all that you need to successfully complete anything you aim for.

Having this understanding and taking your time only taking the steps you are ready to take as you feel confident enough to take will help you get to your desired outcome and with the added benefit that you will have enjoyed the journey as well.

Although it may take you longer to achieve your goal, it is essential to your success that you do not apply too much pressure on yourself to succeed before the time is right.

Love What You Do

Have you ever been forced to do something that didn’t seem enjoyable? Compare that moment to a time that you did something that you really loved doing. Which of those two moments would you like to relive if you had the opportunity?

As they say, “Love conquers all” The more you enjoy what you do, the more likely you will not only do the task but also be successful at it. The idea behind this concept is not to only do tasks you love or enjoy doing but to enjoy all the tasks that you do.

This relies on your ability to have the right perspective and mindset. Choosing to understand and see that only that which serves you is placed before and embracing any lessons or skills you might learn along the way will improve your odds to achieve all you dedicate your time to.

Have An Attitude Of Gratitude

This approach to all things will like also aid you to start loving what you do and will lead to your overall success in any area of your life. Being grateful is a very powerful aid to the progressive movement in your life.

As we become more and more grateful for what we have in the present moment, the more the divine source opens doors to the possibility of more. Gratitude, just as loving what you do, opens the possibility for us to be in a continuous state of peace and harmony with ourselves and the world.

It also opens your eyes to see the infinite amount of blessing and beauty that surrounds you at all times.

Show Yourself, Grace

As we advance along our journey through self-improvement, we are bound to make a lot of mistakes. In most cases, you might feel that applying pressure or shaming yourself might be the right course of action. After all, that is what everyone does, right?

You will find this approach to handling your mistakes will only discourage further action to be taken toward your goal. I would encourage you to instead try, grace.

If you have the knowledge that mistakes are just the way we all learn and discover new ways to approach every single challenge, then you can show yourself grace, because you will understand you are simply learning, and learning brings about growth and expansion of knowledge.

Stay Humble

Staying humble while in the midst of failure is easy, but in the midst of success, you might develop a bit of an ego that states you are better than the rest, which will, in turn, drive you to act differently than you once did.

I would encourage you to instead stay humble, to understand that any success you achieve can be lost as quickly as it was gained will help. By staying humble, you will stay grounded and have a far more discerning sense of judgment and reasoning, which will lead to good decision-making and more success and achievement.

Although the world says that you should have an ego and come off as superior to others once you reach new heights, I would again encourage you to stay humble, which will help you to achieve any height or goal and also has the added benefit of allowing you to build and maintain relationships.

Build New Habits

The entire purpose of self-improvement is to change, and a part of this change is to build new habits. If you approach self-improvement with the same old habits you had, then you might reach your desired result, but you might find it hard to maintain it.

Finding success and achievement in a goal is a wonderful feeling, but will only lead to discouragement if you can not maintain the result or outcome. The only way to give yourself an honest chance to maintain any achievement is to change your habits and build healthier ones.

Building new habits is key. By changing your habits, you will also change your results and outcomes.

Take Responsibility

One of the biggest keys to any self-improvement goal you might have is to take responsibility for all your decisions and actions. Owning all your thoughts, feeling, and actions will allow you to learn about yourself along the journey towards self-improvement, which is one of the key processes of a self-improvement journey.

Learning about yourself as you work toward your goal will only make you stronger and more self-aware, which will allow you a new level of power over yourself and the world around you.

As you begin to see yourself with more clarity, you will also look at the world with fresh eyes. I would encourage you to take responsibility. After all, your self-improvement journey is about you.

Learn From Others

You might think that you can make self-improvement goals and achieve them without help from others. If you are an independent mind such as I am, it is likely you approach things from this mindset.

And although I would never discourage independence, I would encourage you to make your life a little easier by learning from those who have already achieved whatever you now look to achieve.

Following the blueprint of those who have already achieved the goal will raise your chances of succeeding without nearly as much struggle.

Do Not Give Up

When faced with adversity, it becomes so easy to have the mindset to just give up. To give in to all that negative chatter in your head. Yet, in your moments of adversity, you are simply being tested.

The universe will always test you before aligning you to receive something you desire. This is why it is key to never give up on a goal that you want to achieve. Regardless of how long it takes, how hard things get, or how things may appear, trust that if you just stay with it, you will achieve it and, in time, you will.

Something that will also help you to come through when being faced with your greatest adversity is to surround yourself with supportive people who can help you to get to your finish line.
