Welcome back, everyone. Today, I would like to discuss in this week’s newsletter seven steps you can take toward building your spiritual well-being. Many people believe that their practices and disciplines are enough to evolve spiritually.
This could be true if you only sought to master spirituality from the perspective of that practice or discipline. However, simply practicing specific disciplines is not all that is required to grow or master your spirituality.
Now although there are many more steps you could take, this week, I would like to discuss what I believe could be seven of the most essential steps you can take to build your spiritual well-being. If you would like to expand and build your spirituality or if you are looking to see if you’re on the right path, then stick with me as I take this next step toward becoming positively improved.
Release Fear and Ego
One of the hardest things a person can do in the face of a crisis is to trust. To completely surrender to the idea that they are not in control but will be okay despite what happens. Yet, the most common way that anyone’s faith or spirituality is tested is to simply have the ability to have confidence in the midst of a storm.
Anyone in a higher state of spiritual mastery will tell you that even the most spiritual person can feel doubt or fear. Still, instead of embracing these emotions or the negativity of the situation, they release and surrender to the storm with peace and confidence that no matter what happens next, it is for their highest good.
It is just as vital to our spiritual well-being that you understand that you should always play your part and do what you can. Still, when the time comes, it is just as virtual that you recognize that you do not have control over the outcome, and it is now time to surrender, and trust is a power and force beyond your own.
If you can do this, the storm will begin to look much less scary as it passes, as all things do.
Mastering your mind
Another hard step to take is to master one’s mind. Which, of course, is something I talk about all the time. Yet dedication to the effort of mastering what we think about will aid us in so many ways and can ultimately keep us on the right track if we stay positive.
Remember, what we think will open the door to how we feel and what we say or do. What we think also will reinforce what we will or will not believe, and through our beliefs, what we manifest or make real.
Thus, mastering one’s mind is very important to your growth as an individual and your spiritual well-being. Therefore, practicing any discipline that will allow you to harness and guide your thoughts positively and peacefully is important.
Learn the art of give and take
Again anyone who practices any kind of spiritual discipline should understand the rules of giving and taking surrounding their lives. When I started my practices and disciplines, the idea behind giving and taking was a complex concept to understand.
However, I would soon figure out that when we freely offer our services, our encouragement, our money, or anything we give will come back to us, in many cases tenfold what we shared. So therefore, if what is being asked of you is more than you can honestly give, you should give it, as that is likely, not wise.
Yet if you can give to another in need, you should; even if that person can not repay you, you will be reimbursed for your kindness. To do so will also have the added benefit of allowing you to feel good about yourself and to grow in your beliefs on loving thy neighbor and your spirituality.
Become Decerning
Something that most people do not think about when it comes to their spirituality is being decerned about what they take in or absorb. No matter what is happening around you, you are responsible for what you allow into your mind or life.
If you find that someone’s words are draining your spiritual energy or leave you feeling emotions such as anger or doubt, then you are being given a sign that it is time to put up your spiritual armor and bless them as you put some distance between you and them.
The same can be said for what you listen to or watch in any situation or environment. You should align yourself with what helps to build you up and reinforce your spiritual beliefs and growth, and you should put distance to all that tears you down or does not serve your highest good. Remember you hold the key to your most significant health and well-being.
Complete Honesty
You have all heard at one time or another that honesty is the best policy, and although I am not sure that is entirely true. Being totally honest with yourself at all times is very accurate. It is foolish to try to hide from one’s self, along with the fact it is nearly impossible.
You also have the fact that lying to oneself blocks the connection to the divine source. You will never be able to connect with the invisible world when you are blocking yourself by not facing the truth of who you are, how you are, what you have done, or how you feel.
When it comes to spirituality, honesty is always the best policy. Therefore, doing a completely honest and objective self-inventory of one’s self at least once or twice a year and more often if needed is good.
Embrace the peace
In a world full of anger, resentment, and vengeance and attracted to the dark far more than the light, it is rather hard to always be in a state of peace, yet mastering one’s spiritual practices and disciplines requires peace as a factor for growth.
To remain in this peace, you allow yourself not to take other people’s thoughts, words, or actions personally. Instead, you trust that even when others act out toward you, you will be okay, and whatever needs to be done to rebalance the scales of justice will be taken care of by karma.
(who does her job so very well without our help.)
To remain in a state of peace shows the divine source that you trust and surrender to the natural unfolding of all events. Always being in a state of relaxation will not only attract more peace to you and take you to a state of enlightenment but will also impact those around you with peace which will help them relax and simply take life in all its forms.
Practice Daily Commitment
Spirituality is all about commitment and daily practice. Yet, beyond the most faithful of us, people seem to only pay attention to spiritual practices with commitment when they are in a crisis. Therefore, it is important that you not view your spiritual practices as a get-out-of-jail-free card.
Instead, view your practiced discipline as a commitment of faith to a higher power or energy that is helping you to evolve into a high-state being. To master or achieve this higher state, you must practice daily and stay committed regardless of your circumstances or situation.
If you do this, then with time, practice, and dedication, you will build and master every stage of your process of spirituality.
Final Thoughts:
As you can now see for yourself, each of these steps are essential to the building and mastering of your spiritual well-being. If you have only begun your spiritual practices and disciplines, please stick with your daily commitment to practicing even when you are tested, and you will be tested song the way.
For those of you who are more advanced, I hope you found something useful in the information I shared. If you know someone who could benefit from this information, please share it with them. Also, if you have thoughts you would like to share. Please do so in the commit section.
