Welcome back, everyone. This week is Thanksgiving week, and I thought I would center this week’s newsletter around seven things we can all be thankful for.
I am sure that most of my regular readers are busy preparing for the holiday season, which is getting ready to kick off in full force, so I will likely not see the same kind of turnout this week as in previous weeks. This is perfectly okay, and I hope all of you who do not have time this week to join me will have a wonderful holiday season.
However, for those of you who made time to join me as I take this next step toward becoming positively improved, thank you. I have always been grateful for my readers, but I am incredibly thankful for the loyal readers who show up every week to support positively improved as well as me.
Now, let’s jump on to the seven things we can all be grateful for. Starting with the skill of preparing food
For the skill of preparing and eating good food
With this being Thanksgiving week, I must acknowledge the food you will enjoy eating this week. Most people, especially those of you who have prominent families or big gatherings. As with lots of people, there is usually lots of food. It can be so easy To be grateful for all those foods that taste the best to us, but if you think about it, there is quite a lot to be thankful for when it comes to food.
For example, most foods these days come from a box or bag, which means that we as a society don’t have to get up at the Crack of dawn to prepare and cook food that will be devoured within an hour of putting it on the table. It’s also important to remember that because most of our foods come in a box or bag, in almost every case, cleanup is pretty straightforward.
And, of course, food tastes so much better than it did back when Thanksgiving first started taking place, which, in my opinion, having good-tasting food is always a plus and a good reason to be thankful. Although I just gave you three things to be grateful for, this only counts as one of the ways I will discuss this week.
To be alive
The second thing that we can all be grateful for is being alive. I fully appreciate that not everyone’s life is full of positive people or experiences, but even if this is the case, you still have energy, which is enough to be thankful.
Something to remember, no matter how bad things might be for you or, for that matter, no matter how lonely you feel, you would not be in the situation if you were not meant to be in it. This means that there is always potential for improvement and change.
The fact that you are healthy can breathe without machines, and can choose what you want to do and who you want to be is a lot to be thankful for if you take the time to think about it.
For the ability to choose
As I mentioned before, the opportunity to choose is something to be thankful for. So many people need the chance to choose who they want to be or how they want to live. For those of us who have these kinds of freedoms, we have so much to be thankful for, and we should also take the time to use these opportunities wisely as we may not always have these kinds of opportunities for freedom of choice.
For your family and friends
Of course, we should all be grateful for our friends and family. Even those people we do not always get along with. I know it can be hard to be Thankful to someone who might be rude or display bad behavior toward you.
Yet we need to be thankful for even these people because they give you an opportunity for growth and expansion of being. We should be grateful for everyone in our lives as they all support us in one way or another.
For your freedom
Another thing those of us who have freedom should be thankful for is this freedom. Now, although you should be grateful for the space the government provides, it is not the kind of freedom I am referring to; the freedom I am referring to is the freedom of mind, body, and spirit.
The freedom of choice, they do know we are enough and that we do not need the approval of others to be sufficient, that I am referring to. This freedom gives us something to be so grateful for simply because not many people truly understand this kind of freedom. If you experience this freedom, take the time to acknowledge it and be thankful for the ability.
Every experience that has helped to shape you
The sixth way to discuss is to be thankful for every experience, whether good or bad, as they have each played their part in shaping you into who you are. As we have discussed in previous newsletters, no one should love us or support us more than we do ourselves, and thus, every experience that has helped shape us into the lovely people we are should be something we are highly thankful for.
For the ability to give and receive unconditional love
Since I brought up the thought of love, I should use this as the last thing to be thankful for this week.
We are all given the ability to love and accept ourselves and others unconditionally. Not all use this ability, but we should all be grateful for the ability to give and receive such a gift as unconditional love and acceptance.
This kind of love and acceptance makes the world a much better place to live in—just a little food for thought.
Final Thoughts
Now, as I come to a close with this week’s newsletter, I would like to leave you with a challenge this week. I would like you to take some time between today and Thanksgiving to come up with at least five things that you are thankful for, so when you are asked on Thanksgiving when you are asked what you are grateful for, you will already have your answer prepared.
As always, thanks for taking this step toward becoming positively improved. I hope that you all enjoy Thanksgiving. See you next week, Namaste.
