Welcome back, everyone. Over the last few weeks, I have been working on the subject of self-worth a lot, and I thought this would be an excellent topic to discuss with all of you. Thus, this week’s newsletter will be around the topic of recognizing your self-worth. This week, I will dive into five ways you can recognize this self-worth.
I hope that by the time we reach the end of this newsletter, not only will you have an overall better knowledge of self-worth, but you will also have an understanding of whether or not your self-worth needs help or not. If you are ready, let’s take the next step toward becoming positively improved.
Know thyself.
Knowing yourself can be pretty challenging when you get down to it, and honestly, few people really take the time to get to know themselves.
Yet, one of the best ways to ultimately get to know yourself is to take the time to learn what works for you and what doesn’t. In many cases, getting to know yourself can be a lifelong endeavor; however, as you work to know yourself, the more you will see where and how you have value to yourself as well as others.
If you really want to get to know yourself, the best way I have found is to observe yourself from an objective point of view and to ask yourself questions along the way. You will find that the answers you give to these questions, if they are sincere, will provide you with insight into yourself, and even better, the more you get to know yourself, the more confidence you have in yourself and the more you will know your overall worth.
Understand your guiding values.
What are core values? They could be things such as honesty, kindness, integrity, things that create purpose and action in your life? These core values could also be viewed as your guiding values.
These guiding values also allow you to better understand your worth and value to those around you. If you have good guiding values, then your worth is high. However, if your guiding values are poor, your self-worth will also be poor.
With this thought in mind, I would like you to take the time to point out the five things that guide you the most in the actions that you take each day. This will get you started on recognizing your self-worth.
Count the ways you matter.
Another exercise that you can do is counting the ways you matter. It should already be common knowledge that everyone matters, but not everyone knows how they matter to others or what value they have in the world.
This is where taking the time to see how you matter is of real value to you. Thus I would encourage you to jot down at least five things that you do for yourself or others that make a difference. As you will see, the little acts of kindness make a real difference and allow you to see just how much you really do matter in the lives around you.
Again I would strongly encourage you to take the time to sit down and write out this list. You may be surprised by the list you create.
See the difference that you make.
Another thing you can do to help you recognize your self-worth is to pay attention to everything you do for others and yourself. Each of these acts of kindness will make a difference no matter how big or small, and no issue whether or not the action is for yourself or someone else. If you pay attention, you will know that you matter in many more ways than you think and likely to more people than you know.
Find the ways you can serve.
Once you have written your lists and can recognize your worth, you will be encouraged to take things to the next level by finding ways to serve others. We all do little things that help to increase our value. I encourage you to do your little acts of kindness for as many people as you can, which will likely expand your circle of friends and associates and increase your overall self-worth.
Final Thoughts
I know that this week’s newsletter is shorter than my usual newsletter, but I know that we have now entered the holiday season, and many of you are likely having a hard time keeping up. Thus, I wanted to create a short but valuable newsletter that would extend some good knowledge.
I hope you got something out of this information and that you take the time to create those lists I spoke about. I promise they will help you to see yourself and your worth so much more apparent.
If you know someone who would benefit from this knowledge, please share this with them. If you have anything you want to share, please do so in the comment section below. As always, thank you for joining me as I took this next step in becoming positively improved. Until next week, namaste.
