Welcome back, everyone. Today’s newsletter will be about how you can become a better problem solver.

I felt this was an excellent topic to discuss, as problem-solving can be challenging for certain people. Most people find it so much easier to avoid their problems than to face them, and one of the main ingredients to becoming a problem solver is to be able to do this very thing.

So, if you are one of those people who has always avoided their problems but are ready to make a change, or if you are already a problem solver but are looking for ways to improve in this skill, I would encourage you to stick with me as I take this step toward becoming positively improved.

I would like to note that this week’s newsletter will be very much to the point and will only give you the information that will help you become a better problem-solver. Now, without further ado, let’s jump in.

Attributes of a problem solver

Here are some characteristics of a good problem solver.

  • Good listener
  • A decisive person
  • A good decision-maker
  • Good at research
  • Good at analyzing
  • A good communicator
  • Adaptable
  • Emotionally intelligent
  • Dependable
  • A good observer

These are but a few of the many attributes that define a good problem solver.

Seven ways you can become a better problem solver.

It is important to remember that problem-solving is a step-by-step process. Each of the steps mentioned below is critical, and by mastering these steps, you will become the best problem-solver you can be.

  1. Identify the problem ( figure out what needs to be fixed). This is the first and most important step of the process. You must first see the problem before you can get to the root of it.
  2. Find the root of the problem. This second step allows you to find the source of the problem. Seeing the heart of the problem makes the solving part of the process possible.
  3. Look for several different solutions. Always find the first solution and never less than a potential backup solution. Having multiple solutions makes the process’s next step much more effortless.
  4. Out of the list of solutions you have found now, you would see which h solution would be the solution that would fix the problem most effectively.
  5. Now, you have a solution that will fix the problem, so next, you need a plan to implement the solution.
  6. Now that you have found the best solution and have a plan, it is time to put this solution into action. This is where the work really begins.
  7. After the action is taken, all that is left to do is assess how successfully your action plan worked.
