Welcome back, everyone. This week, the newsletter will discuss techniques that help to create life balance. Suppose you have been following these newsletters for any length of time. In that case, you will know that much of what I talk about is meant to help you create life balance by developing a higher understanding of yourself, your relationships, and the world around you.

If you are looking for a more direct approach to achieving this balance, this week’s newsletter will be what you are looking for. Below, I will give you six ways to increase your life balance. If you are just beginning your journey, you will be catapulted into life balance success if you just embrace and use the advice and knowledge below.

So, if you are interested and, even better, ready to take this next step with me towards becoming positively improved, then take my imaginary hand, and let’s jump on into this week’s newsletter.

Set Boundaries

What does it mean to set boundaries? This is something that you should ponder for a moment. When I was asked this question, I couldn’t give a very good answer simply because I didn’t really understand the concept of boundaries.

For those of you who are at that place, it is important to understand that boundaries are clear guidelines, rules, and limits to how you desire to be treated. This means that if you want to be respected, you take action that allows others to know that you desire to be respected, and sometimes, it will mean you will have to defend your right to this respect by letting others know they can not be disrespectful toward you.

It is essential also to understand that some of these boundaries are about understanding that you are only one person and you have many demands to meet, so people can not expect that they can monopolize all your time and attention. To create time for everything that requires your attention daily, you must set clear and easily defendable boundaries. When you can do this, you will be a step closer to life balance success.

Set priorities

So, what would you have to do to set priorities? Again, please take a moment to ponder this before reading on. Many people struggle with this task simply because they do not know their priorities.

Your priorities should be set up according to which things have the greatest value and importance to you: not other people, not your boss, your spouse, your children, or even your best friend, but by you. If you are one of those people who allow others to make the decisions and you just want to be told what to do, that is okay; just know that you will never have any actual level of balance in your life. People rarely care much about your well-being, especially when you don’t care about it.

However, if you are like me and didn’t realize that putting everything and everyone above what I wanted or what I thought was best was wrong and didn’t work for me. Then, know you can change things with a simple mind shift followed by a plan and action.

Delegate

Here is another one that I learned was a life and time saver. Delegating tasks will help you in many different ways. For example, delegating saves energy and time and the energy when building relationships and assisting others to feel needed and valued.

Another benefit of delegating is that you do not have to feel alone, as if the whole world is on your shoulders alone. Not to mention that you will have a higher level of effectiveness, thus allowing you to find balance in several areas of your life.

I can not tell you how much it helped to delegate tasks at work and home. Things work so much better, and I started to see how every person can play their part to get the task done quickly and, in many cases, better than you would have done alone.

Know when to take breaks.

This one could be hard to accomplish, especially if you’re a workaholic or a parent of young children, but taking breaks and relaxing during these breaks is vital to your well-being and overall function throughout the day.

If this is hard for you, then knowing you are not alone in your struggle is important. In a fast-paced world that requires more and more from you, it is hard for many to take breaks, and in so many cases, it is even more challenging for people to relax during this downtime.

However, you can start by just creating a time for stillness. I know that taking a break was hard when I began my journey, but stillness was nearly impossible. It took time and mindful effort to get myself to just be still at first for a few minutes, which would build over time to 30 minutes and even 60 minutes when time allows.

At first, it is hard to make the time or, for that matter, to put forth the effort still, but I promise you that it will be worth your time and effort. It is also a great way to help you see with a new perspective and to help you create a better life balance.

Eliminate distractions

Now, eliminating distractions should be a rather obvious way of creating life balance. Yet, you would be amazed to know how many people honestly just do not see that they are giving in to the distractions around them. They have become so used to the constant interruption that it is just how things are to them.

If this is you, it is time to step back and reassess things. The way to know if this is you is to notice how long it takes you to complete any task you have in a day. If you find that it takes you a long time to complete tasks or if you find that specific tasks never get finished, then you are distracted, and it is time for you to get clear on what it is you should be giving your time to.

Remember the saying one step at a time. This is so relevant when it comes to staying focused on the task and following it through before moving on to the next task. If, for some reason, you still find this hard to achieve, then go back to privatizing and, where possible, delegate.

Be flexible

Now, finally, we have come to the final step I will discuss this week: always to remain flexible. It is essential to remember that life is ever-changing, and sometimes, you can follow all the steps above and then be thrown a curve ball that will uproot everything you are trying to do. When this happens, it is so important to remain flexible.

If you can manage to find a way to evaluate and adjust to the different tasks, roles, and responsibilities you are presented with each day with less stress, then you will have mastered the ability and skill of being flexible in life, and you will see yourself achieve a much more balanced life.

Final Thoughts
