Welcome back, everyone. This week’s topic will be the steps that can be taken to transform pain into possibility. I am sure anyone reading this has faced some pain that made them just want to crawl under their covers and shut the world out; I know that I have more times than I would care to admit.
Yet, over the years, I have come to understand a singular profound truth. You have the ability and the power to take any adverse outcome, bad event, loss, or hardship and use it as fuel for something positive.
Below, I will give you steps to transform anything that has or is causing you pain or harm into something that will create a sense of possibility and purpose. So, I invite you to stick with me as I take this next step toward becoming positively improved.
The pain is not the end of the world.
When we first feel the pain of a life event or situation, it can seem like the world is ending. In this state of mind, we become victims; when we are victims, we can not see possibility, the brighter side, or even hope.
The first step is to recognize that no matter what the event or situation is, like all things, it will pass. You will likely understand the reason that the event or situation played out the way it did and that although it might have felt like the end of the world at that moment, in most cases, in the end, things will work in your favor.
It is hard to see how a harmful or life-changing event could be beneficial or work in your favor, but as they say, nothing is put in your path that will serve you in one way or another.
Find the truth behind the pain.
One way to recognize that your pain is not the end of the world even before you see the brighter side is to find the truth of the situation or event. We all tell ourselves stories about why we feel the pain we are feeling, but rarely are these stories true. In most cases, we feel sorry for ourselves or want to feel justified in our pain or betrayal.
We rarely see that we played any part in bringing the situation about, and although there are cases where that might be true, those events or situations are rare. Whether we know it or not, we almost always play some part, even if it is as tiny as just being in that place at that precise time.
However, if we can stand up and be honest with ourselves about the part we played, we will have a much better time seeing the truth of the situation and how to avoid that same situation or event in the future.
Recognize the lesson that you are being taught.
The second step is to see the lesson that situation or event taught you. See, every struggle, hardship, or challenge we face has a lesson to teach if we are open to receiving the message.
The biggest block in seeing the lesson is that we do not know what part we played when we can’t see this part of the equation. We tend not to be open to the lessons we could have learned.
However, seeing the lesson gives the event or situation meaning, and this meaning can bring about real and lasting growth. Another benefit of this lesson is that you will also have new wisdom that you can teach someone else down the line.
It is essential to understand that every event and situation has something it can teach you if you are only open and, in some cases, looking for the lesson. When I face something painful, I start allowing myself to feel the feeling, but I will almost always follow these feelings up with the question, what should I be learning here?
It never fails that when I ask the question, the pain subsides, and my mind shifts from the victim mindset to the empowered mindset. I start looking for answers and resolutions. Doing things this way makes me much more resilient when faced with adversity.
See the growth opportunity.
Now, once you see the growth opportunity, what are you meant to do with it? You are meant to lean into it and take whatever you can from it. Once you have taken in all that you can from this opportunity, you share your new knowledge with someone else who needs it.
See, growth opportunities are not just for you; they are also for you to share, and as you share this knowledge, you complete the transformation process. The process starts with seeing the problem, telling yourself the truth about the situation, then seeing the lesson, and finally taking the opportunity to share the new knowledge you have gained.
Final thoughts:
Here, we are again at the end of yet another newsletter. Hopefully, you can now see how you take the steps to transform your pain into possibility. If you have never had the chance to do this, I invite you to try and see how it makes you feel to change the perspective in which you see and feel your pain. The knowledge alone is rather enlightening. If you would like to share your thoughts on this subject, please do so in the section below. If you know someone who could use this information to transform their pain into possibility, I would love for you to share this with them.
Thank you, as always for supporting my work and hanging with me as I took this step toward becoming positively improved. Until next week, Namaste.
