Welcome back, everyone. This week, we will dive a bit deeper into the topic of energy and how it works by discussing what blocks the energy or chakra points. Over the last few weeks, we have been learning all about energy and how it works in our bodies. This week, we could discuss how these energy points can become blocked.

In this newsletter, I will break down the blocks in each chakra area and what you should become aware of to feel or see these symptoms in yourself or others so that you can take the steps needed to unblock these areas and restore them to full function.

If you are finding this topic as fascinating as I do and would like to learn a bit more about this subject and its importance to your overall function and well-being, please stick around as I take this next step toward becoming positively improved,

What blocks the energy or chakra points?

Some say that the root chakra can be blocked by several factors, including:

  • Unmet needs, such as lack of food, water, and shelter, can lead to materialism, isolation, and anxiety, creating a disconnect from the earth.
  • Trauma and fear can harm one’s sense of stability and balance, leading to feelings of anger, panic, and anxiety.
  • In fight-or-flight mode, hormones can be affected when the body is in this state, which can block the root chakra.
  • Inconsistent caregiving
  • If caregivers do not consistently provide what is needed for survival, especially during infancy, it can lead to blockages in the root chakra.

Some say that a blocked root chakra can lead to psychological symptoms such as anxiety disorders, fear, panic attacks, worry, overthinking, depression, emotional disorders, anger or rage, and nightmares, even the feeling of being disconnected from your body in extreme cases.

A blocked root chakra has also been known to cause physical symptoms such as

  • Lethargy
  • Digestive disorders
  • Health problems in the colon, bladder, and lower back
  • Unexplained aches and pains in the lower abdomen and pelvis
  • Reproductive issues
  • Insomnia or excessive sleeping

Some things that can block the sacral chakra include:

  • Trauma: Sexual trauma, physical abuse, emotional abuse, neglect, or abandonment can cause blockages
  • Repressed emotions: Suppressing emotions instead of processing them can lead to imbalances
  • Unhealthy relationships: Toxic or dysfunctional relationships can drain the sacral chakra’s energy
  • Substances: Alcohol, drugs, and excessive materialism can cause imbalances

Some negative qualities associated with a blocked sacral chakra include wounded emotions, secrets, fear of judgment, inability to experience emotional or sexual intimacy, and nightmares.

The solar plexus chakra can be blocked by several things, including:

  • Negative emotions: Such as anxiety, shame, or fear of punishment
  • Lack of self-confidence
  • Trauma: Such as emotional abuse, gaslighting, or societal forces that suppress individuality
  • Volatile situations

A blocked solar plexus chakra can also lead to digestive issues and low self-esteem.

When the heart chakra becomes blocked by stress, anxiety, or emotional upheaval, your well-being can suffer. A blocked heart chakra may make developing and maintaining healthy relationships difficult. It is common for individuals with a closed heart chakra to experience rejection, abandonment, or loss at a young age. They may have been criticized or shamed as children or young adults.

The blocked throat chakra, also known as Vishudda, can be caused by physical or emotional issues:

  • Communication challenges
  • Anxiety about speaking, being unwilling to share opinions, overtalking, or emotional outbursts.
  • Trauma
  • Being surrounded by gossip, arguments with loved ones, or childhood experiences like abuse or being yelled at
  • Poor habits
  • Self-destructive behavior, poor posture, or unhealthy diet
  • Other factors
  • Repressed emotions, food toxins, lack of self-confidence, sore throat, headaches, sleep problems, voice and breathing problems, and swallowing problems

Some signs of a blocked throat chakra include:

  • Physical symptoms like a raspy throat, chronic sore throat, mouth ulcers, gum disease, laryngitis, thyroid challenges, or temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders
  • Emotional symptoms like being highly critical of yourself and others or feeling unheard or disconnected between thoughts and speech

Some say breathwork focusing on moving air across the throat can help balance the chakra.

Some causes of a blockage in the third eye chakra include disconnecting from nature, consuming many processed foods, and experiencing overwhelming sadness. Other causes are related to the pineal gland, such as fluoride calcification and exposure to heavy metals. Furthermore, stress can also block or unbalance any chakra. When this energy point becomes blocked or clogged, you may find yourself feeling powerless, stagnant, or quick to anger.

When the crown chakra falls out of balance, an individual may experience a sense of detachment from their spiritual aspect, struggle to discern meaning and direction in life, encounter difficulties in accessing their intuition and higher wisdom, and find it challenging to remain centered and focused in the present moment. They might also struggle with self-acceptance, harbor critical thoughts, and experience feelings of skepticism or a lack of faith.

An imbalance in the crown chakra may manifest physically as chronic headaches, sleep disturbances, and neurological issues. It can also engender a general feeling of dissatisfaction or unease. This imbalance may also correlate with emotions of isolation, profound sadness, and a disconnection from one’s physical self and the surrounding world.
