Welcome back, everyone. This week’s newsletter will continue with the topic of energy, focusing on the concepts of energy healing. Several weeks back, we discussed chakra healing, a form of energy healing. We have also discussed meridian points, which are also points in the body that are energy formed in the body. This week, however, we will move into a different kind of energy healing, which is referred to as Reiki.

This week, we will break down reiki and how it works to heal oneself or others through you and this practice. We will discuss the benefits and risks of using this practice. I will close the discussion with the results you should expect to gain from it and a guide on how to do this practice in the comfort of your home.

If you are interested in learning about the practice of Reiki and how it works to heal you or others through you, or if you are curious about how to do this practice for yourself in your own time and the comfort of a safe space, then I invite you to hang with me as I take this next step toward becoming positively improved.

What is Reiki?

Reiki therapy is based on the belief that vital energy flows through the body. A reiki master specializing in reiki treatment uses gentle touch or places their hands just above the body to help guide this energy in a way that leads to balance and healing.

While there is no scientific evidence to support the existence of the energy field involved in reiki, many people find it relaxing.

Reiki has been studied for conditions such as pain, anxiety, and depression. It is considered a complementary treatment used alongside traditional medical treatments. Reiki does not cure or eliminate health conditions on its own.

How Reiki works.

At its most fundamental level, Reiki therapy reduces the effects of stress by alleviating tension throughout the body. As a result, individuals may experience a movement toward their equilibrium in terms of physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.

Furthermore, depending on an individual’s initial state of physical health when Reiki therapy commences, the body’s natural healing processes may also become more efficient.

For example, the life force that flows through us nourishes our body’s organs and cells and supports their vital functions. It flows within the physical body through pathways known as chakras, meridians, and nadis and around us in an energy field called the aura. (These pathways have already been discussed in previous weeks.) When this flow of life force is disrupted, it can lead to diminished function in our organs and tissues.

Our thoughts and feelings impact this life force. Negative thoughts and feelings, whether consciously or unconsciously accepted, can disrupt the flow of life force, affecting the vital functions of the physical body.

Reiki works by flowing through the affected parts of the energy field and infusing them with positive energy. This raises the vibratory level of the energy field, causing the negative energy attached to it to dissipate. This way, Reiki helps clear, straighten, and heal the energy pathways, allowing the life force to flow healthily and naturally.

The benefits and risks of Reiki

Some of the most common benefits are:

Reiki is generally considered safe, but there are some potential risks and disadvantages or risks that you should consider:

  • Temporary discomfort: Some people may experience temporary pain at an old injury or surgical scar site.
  • Temporary aggravation of symptoms: Some people may experience temporary aggravation of symptoms, such as feeling very tired or upset.
  • Anxiety: Some people who are prone to anxiety may experience an aggravation of anxiety during or after a Reiki session.
  • Inconsistent results: Reiki is a subjective experience, and results can be erratic.
  • Cost: Reiki can be expensive, and you may have to pay out of pocket.
  • Not a medical treatment: Reiki is not an approved medical treatment for anything on its own. Using Reiki as a replacement for conventional medical treatments can be dangerous.
  • Uncomfortable environment: Some people may not be comfortable lying in a dim room with a practitioner standing over them.

Reiki is often used alongside conventional medical treatments. It’s important to tell your doctor about any complementary therapy or alternative therapy that you use.

The results of using Reiki

Reiki is not a cure for disease, but can help people feel more relaxed and peaceful. During a Reiki session, people may feel a tingling sensation, such as release, opening, or profound healing. Everyone’s experience is unique and can vary depending on the practitioner.
